Is Now A Good Time To Invest In A New Furnace? 3 Signs It's Time

Abbie Wade

Investing in a new furnace is a large expense, that most people aren't usually prepared for. Most wait until their furnace gives out, then they have to come up with the money to pay for a new one. It's best to be prepared for this type of large expense. If you aren't sure if you are going to need a new furnace soon, or if it's a good time to invest in a new furnace before it's actually time, read on for a few reasons why you should.

1. Your Furnace Is Starting To Cost You Money

If your furnace is beginning to cost you money in repairs, it's most likely time to replace it with a new one, or at least start saving for a new one if getting one now isn't possible. If you're needing to repair your furnace each season, or the repairs are increasing in cost, it's time to replace it. The cost of the repairs can all add up and you may be saving money by investing in a new furnace instead of repairing it over and over again. Your furnace may also be costing you money in energy bills as well. If this is the case, it's most likely because the furnace is no longer energy efficient. Investing in a new unit can save you money in monthly energy costs and usage.

2. Your Furnace Is Aging

Along with breakdowns, your aging furnace can cost you extra money because of the difficulty of finding parts for it. Repairs may increase in cost because of how hard it is to find the parts needed. Typically if your furnace is older than 15 years old, it's time for a new system. It can last you up to 20 years, but you may end up having trouble finding parts, or you could have other issues due to the fact that it's so old.

3. You've Added Onto Your Home

If you've added onto your home, such as an addition, or even added bedrooms to the basement of your home, you may want to invest in a new furnace to help heat your entire home properly. The additions may not be getting enough heat, or it could be too widespread now that your furnace can't heat the entire house properly. Investing in a larger furnace may be necessary to keep up with the demand.

If you aren't sure if it's time to invest in a new furnace, talk to an HVAC company, such as Beyer Heating, about your old furnace and have it inspected to see if you should invest in a newer system.
